About the Company

Amygdalana is a LLC registered in the state of New York. It is a woman-, disability-, and bipoc-founded and owned company.

Amygdalana translates trauma and neuroplasticity research — primarily Gabor Maté's work on the origins of trauma and neuroscientist Dr. Joe Dispenza's work on rewiring the brain — into an illustrated, spoken-aloud book series custom designed for children and inner children. Behind the series sits a growing database of life experiences, emotional patterns, and identity profiles, built on frameworks from psychology professionals. AI scans this database to assemble combinations tailored to a specific person's lived experience, which our team then reviews, edits, and confirms with the reader before anything is finalized — pairing the precision of data with the judgment of real people. A surrounding ecosystem of coloring books, journals, games, videos, and guided read-along discussions repeats these personalized, healthier thought patterns until they become the default ones — literally building new neurological pathways in the amygdala, the brain's threat-and-emotion center.

The only employee of the company is the founder & owner until necessary expansion.

Budget

  • Our startup costs are $13k for the first year without payment of worker compensation.
  • The founder/owner will donate time until enough capital is built for work compensation and to bring on the psychology professionals for the databases.
  • Our researched goal is for the marketing budget to get up to $1.2million/year.
  • Products will be priced so we can donate a book for every 2 books purchased.

Timeline

  • Stage 1 : Establish the business. Enact affordable marketing plan. Create databases of content with the help of psych professionals. Build awareness of the brand. Gather pre-sales.
  • Stage 2: Create the books! Refine the process with research. Add to the databases.
  • Stage 3: Add the other products one at a time. Create more books! Refine the process with research. Add to the databases.

The timeline is dependent on the amount of donations. Once $13k is hit [first year startup costs] we will begin taking pre-sales. We'd like to have the pre-sales shipped and in-hand by April 2027.
